J&H Tannery provides taxidermists with expert tanning, focused on delivering quality hides with a quick turnaround. We understand the trust your clients place in you, and we ask for the same trust in handling their prized trophies. From small to large animals, we ensure skins look great and function as expected. We only accept dry salted skins and are U.S.D.A. approved to receive global shipments.

J&H Tannery LLC was established to serve taxidermists by providing expert tanning services with a focus on quality and customer satisfaction. We are committed to returning your hides in a timely manner, delivering a quality product that will last a lifetime.
As taxidermists, your clients trust you with their once-in-a-lifetime trophies—harvested after significant investment and often great travel. Taxidermy is your specialty. We ask you to place that same trust in us. Whether working on large or small animals, we take pride in providing you with skins that not only look great but perform the way you expect.
We accept dry salted skins only.
For your convenience, we are USDA-approved and able to receive shipments on your behalf from around the world.
Service Charges
Rush Fees
- 4-Week Rush: 50% additional charge
- 2-Week Rush (Wet Tan Only): 100% additional charge
Excessive Length Fee
- Any cape extending more than 6 inches past the armpit will be considered a pedestal mount and will incur an 18% additional charge due to extra processing involved.
- Note: We do not cut capes to length. We will not reduce a life-size mount to half, nor alter pedestal capes to standard cape lengths.
Improper Fleshing Fee
- Hides improperly fleshed will incur either a 30% upcharge or may be refused.
- Hides rejected after the wetting back and/or pickling process will be charged 25% of the total cost.
Critter Fee
- Shipments containing moths or beetles will automatically be treated as a 2-week rush order (100% additional charge) to protect the rest of the tannery. We will contact you if this occurs.
Re-shave Fee
- While we do not re-tan hides from other tanneries, we do offer a re-shaving service at 30% of the listed price.
USDA Fees
- Swine and primate skull treatment per USDA regulations: $50.00 each
- Additional contaminated skulls: $50.00 each
- Disposal fee: $25.00 per item
- Crate disposal fee: $30.00
Shipment Requirements
Please include a packing list with each shipment detailing the following:
- Company name
- Full address, phone number, and email
- Taxidermist license number (if required in your state)
- Complete inventory of skins
- Wet tan or dry tan preference (default is dry tan if not specified)
Upon receiving your shipment, we will issue an estimate. Some hides are priced by square footage; therefore, final invoices may vary. Please notify us immediately if there are any discrepancies.
Shipping & Insurance
We ship via UPS. Responsibility for the shipment passes to you once loaded on the truck. Insurance is not automatically included. If you would like insurance:
- You must request it for each shipment.
- You are responsible for stating the value to be insured.
- The insurance cost must be paid prior to shipping.
- In case of a claim, you must work directly with UPS.
We recommend informing your customers of this policy before sending their skins.
Payment Policies
- All invoices are due upon receipt and must be paid in full prior to shipment.
- Wet tan orders require a credit card on file for immediate shipping after completion.
- Invoices unpaid after 14 days become property of J&H Tannery LLC and may be sold. All future orders will require prepayment.
- Work will begin once full payment has been received. Hides will ship within 30 days of payment.
- Invoices are emailed with a payment link.
- Check payments will be held until cleared.
- Returned checks will incur a $39.00 fee.
Terms & Conditions
All tanning is done at the owner’s risk due to variables such as:
- Animal health
- Weather and environmental conditions
- Skin condition
- Improper handling prior to arrival
J&H Tannery LLC, its owners, and employees are not responsible for any losses or damages due to:
- Transit issues
- Theft, fire, vandalism, mechanical failure, floods, or other unforeseen events
By sending items to J&H Tannery, you agree to all policies, pricing, and terms listed herein.
